Why Alison Haislip is the Perfect G4 Host
June 22nd, 2010 by Robert Palmer
Alison Haislip is that loveable (and a little goofy) blonde woman from G4 TV’s Attack of the Show. She occasionally does The Feed, co-hosts when Olivia Munn is flitting about Hollywood otherwise entertained, and usually gets to do the kick-ass stuff like shoot guns, become part of Cirque de Soleil’s KA, and get trained to become a martial arts movie superstar.
So, why if she’s only on the show once in a while, should she be crowned G4 TV’s Perfect Host? (Hostess–or is that the pastries?) Because Haislip is the model of a Geek Girl and we here at The Geek Rebellion love her.
Let me present some further evidence to support my claim:
- She plays video games—Alison Haislip enjoys kicking ass at Left 4 Dead and knows here way around console hardware unlike some of G4’s female hosts who are just fronting (do they think that true geeks can’t tell?) Just recently her Twitter stream exploded when you unleashed her excitement about Mario Galaxy–not understanding that but it’s a video game and she’s playing it so score one for her!
- She makes indie films—Alison has STARRED (not just appeared) in episodic web shorts such as “Trading Eights” as well as feature length films such as “The Indian”and ‘The Donner Party.” (She may now be just a Geek girl on a tech television channel but I foresee big things in the future.) Check out her IMDB Profile–it’s impressive for a young host.
- She has a kick ass body—I know I shouldn’t resort to sexist remarks like that but come on, when you notice something that’s nice, why not praise it? During those excellent portions of AOTS where Alison Haislip has to break out the whoopass, she really shows off how tight her body is. Most of the time it’s hidden beneath layers of clothing but when she’s in a leotard or spandex there ain’t no hidin’ it. She could definitely put me and 90% of The Geek Rebellion’s visitors to shame at the gym.
- She parties like a frelling rockstar—If you follow Alison Haislip on Twitter (@alisonhaislip) you know that she loves to get her drink on. We’re not talking about these fruity Hollywood parties that some of G4’s hosts go to (Kevin, that one wasn’t aimed at you.) We’re talking down-home Jersey Girl type parties where the beer is cold and football is on the tube—not that I watch football.
Perhaps the one thing that might mar Alison Haislip’s Geek Girl Perfection is the fact that she doesn’t really converse on Twitter. Rarely do I see re-tweets and almost never does she mention anyone except perhaps a very close friend. I’m not asking for constant communication, I know she’s busy building her career and all, but perhaps a little “Hey” once in a while would be nice.
If you want to get to know Miss Haislip a little better, check out her website AlisonHaislip.com. There’s lots of great videos and vlog entries as well as some smoking photos she had done at various photo shoots. (Check out the photos below to get a taste of what you’ll be getting on Alison Haislip’s website.)
But why don’t I let Alison tell you a little bit about herself. While scrounging around on G4′s brand spakin’ new website I found this biographical video under Attack of the Staff. It’s Alison in her own words. If you aren’t convinced after that I think I might have to send my ceiliing ninjas out to your house for a visit.
