Like most Geeks, and people in general, I despise Valentine’s Day. Every year people are expected to buy heart-shaped red things with questionable chocolates inside, diabeetus-inducing greeting cards, and possible slave-labored flowers. Not great!
So today, whilst daydreaming at work, I thought of something that I could celebrate; someone that I love–and as the Geek Rebellion Tag Cloud would suggest, obsess over–Survival Horror’s leading lady, Jill Valentine. (The fact that one of my favorite female characters’ namesake fits the actual “holiday” is nothing short of divine foresight by Capcom.)
Here is the premise: instead of mushy muck-muck, just celebrate Jill Valentine! Whether it be by playing old Resident Evil titles, watching the dreadful live-action movies that she is in (just kidding, don’t do that), drawing her kicking zombie/Uroboros ass, or cosplay (for the ladies, guys. For the ladies.), celebrate the woman that helped take down the evil corporation known as Umbrella!
What is your favorite Jill Valentine moment? Are you partial to the very first game with its horridly cheesy dialogue? Is REmake more your gig? I bet no one could pass up Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, one of my top favorite RE games. Let me know your fondest memories of Jill!
